PostSubject: Machine work??   Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:08 pm

I got some sr16 pistons I am going to put in my motor because the rings are going anyways and want to try something so. I need to know if anyone knows someone that does machine work or knows a good shop that knows what they are doing. I assuming I need to shave the dome 1mm and notch it for the oil squirters. Any help/ Suggestions would be great..

Thanks,

Mitch

Why would you have to notch SR16 pistons? I thought all VE's had oil squirters?

I met this person at a car show couple weeks ago who use to have a 93 nx. He currently drives a maxima but anyways his name is Cody and he works at Manitowoc Motor Machining & Parts, Inc. He should be able to do what you need. Pm me if you want his cell number.

The sr16 and sr16 N1 both don't have the oil squirters because they are only 1.6 and the piston doesn't travel as far so I think they thought they didn't need them. Thats what I head anyways

SR16's dont have squirters, not sure why. Only reason to shave the dome would be to lower compression from the 13.5. They will clear N1 cams without shaving.

You probably don't want to venture down that far but Mike's cousin has a machine shop in Wheeling, IL (redid our miata motor and head along with a few mustang heads and blocks AND some work on our sr20 motor FWIW)

I'll ask Mike (my hubby for those who don't know) for the contact info and you can call to ask them and decide from there...
