Threw a rocker on my '94 turbo car last fall, finally got around to fixing it today.
Was missing a shim.
Drained oil, no shim.
Dropped oil pan, no shim.
Found it on windage tray:

Strange, found a really long rope in cylinder #4 lol!

BC springs and Ti retainers installed:

Oil pan was rusted in one spot, so cleaned it up and painted it.
Still have to throw the cams back in.

Many thanks to borngearhead, that is a very tricky operation requiring great patience, especially with the head still on the engine!

Nice work! The old rope trick, no compressed air this time? I remember rigging that compression tester the last time we fixed the popped rocker... Worked pretty good.

Anyway can't wait to see this thing back on the road!

Yea that was a cleaver rope trick. We did try the compression tester with air hooked up, but I dont think there was enough air pressure to hold the valve in place. Josh I am glad you found that shim!

Forgot how nerve-racking it is tightening cams down.
It looks like they're not seated well at all and will snap,
but following FSM, they slowly drop down right in place.

Boostin!
DJ stopped by after work - cams are in, oil pan back on, fresh oil & filter.
Started right up and idled pretty darn good, considering base idle and
timing have not been adjusted.
With headlights on, idle is a bit low, so I think the IACV-AAC is goofy.
Also have to check all the vacuum lines...
Babied it on the test drive except one onramp, 2nd gear useless, no traction.
Thought I got off it right away, but peak recall said 7800RPM. :O

THX DJ!!!

Good to hear! I drove by QMI today on my way back from Schmidt's, didn't see you so I kept on cruisin' and then later some other guy from QMI came into JJ's although I didn't get his name.

And thats my story for the day.
